DFDS - " Det Forenede Dampskibs- Selskab" (The United Steamship Company) - is the oldest, large shipping company in Denmark, founded in 1866.

The ferry operator DFDS Seaways has provided passenger services for more than 130 years, with a fleet considered to be one of the largest in northern Europe. The ferry operator is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

DFDS Seaways' passenger shipping activities focus on ferry routes on the North Sea and the Kattegat and can be divided into three areas: Kattegat, North Sea North and North Sea South. On the Kattegat, the ferry operator DFDS Seaways operates the ferry route Copenhagen - Oslo. On the North Sea North, DFDS Seaways operates the ferry routes Esbjerg -Harwich and since mid-November 2006 Bergen/Haugesund/Stavanger - Newcastle. These routes were previously operated by Fjordline. On the North Sea South, DFDS Seaways operates the ferry route IJmuiden - Newcastle.

DFDS Seaways currently operate seven modern passenger ships. In a year, they transport approximately 1.9 million passengers and 200,000 cars on the six ferry routes traversing the sea between Denmark, Norway, Holland and Great Britain. DFDS aims to expand its position as a leading freigth and passenger liner shipping company in Northern Europe.

Newcastle - Amsterdam
This route is served by the cruise ferries Princess of Norway and the King of Scandinavia. The onboard facilities and attractions include a bar and restaurant, cinema, casino, kidz club, shops and conference facilities. The service operates throughout the year with a daily departure in both directions. The sailing time is 15 hours.

Newcastle - Stavanger - Haugesund - Bergen
Before the cruise ferry arrives in Bergen, it will make calls at the port of Stavanger and Haugesund. The wide range of facilities on board of the cruise ferry includes a restaurant, bar, Kidz Club, casino and Sea Shops. The service operates throughout the year a sailing once a week in both directions. The crossing time is 26 hours.

Harwich - Esbjerg
The cruise ferry Dana Sirena serves the route between Harwich and Esbjerg. This modern ferry joined the DFDS Fleet in 2003. This ferry service runs throughout the year with and connects the UK and Denmark 3-4 times weekly. The crossing time to between the port of Harwich and Esbjerg in Denmark is approx. 17.5 hours.

Copenhagen - Oslo
The cruise ferries serving the route Copenhagen - Oslo are the Crown of Scandinavia and Pearl of Scandinavia, two of DFDS finest vessels. Both cruise ferries can accommodate up to 2000 passengers. Both vessels operate a daily service, with departures at 17:00 in both directions. Crossing time approx. is 16 hours 15 min.
